The Al-Bukhary Foundation has given RM5mil to the National Heritage Fund for research and preservation of heritage sites in the country.
Information Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said with the contribution, the National Heritage Department would not be solely dependent on the government for funds.
“It will be used for several projects including the archeology complex at Sungai Batu, Lembah Bujang in Kedah. We also plan to use archeology expertise from China to meet international requirement and recognition,” he told reporters after the ministry’s monthly gathering at Istana Budaya here Tuesday.
