Expert to talk on South-East Asian treasures at V&A

World-renowned East Asian art expert Rose Kerr will be in Kuala Lumpur to speak about South-East Asian treasures displayed at the Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A) in London, including a 17th century jar from Sarawak.
The crackle-glazed storage jar from Sarawak was recently identified by Chinese archaeologists as being a type made at kilns in Fujian.
Formerly the V&A’s keeper of the Far Eastern Department, Kerr is a distinguished authority in the world of Asian antiquities and explained in an e-mail interview: “A thorough investigation of the V&A’s historical papers and archives revealed letters and documents relating to how and where the pieces were acquired and the personalities involved in their acquisition.
