Conference in honour of Charles Higham in 2020 – deadline for paper titles are at the end of this year.
Professor Charles Higham is a name familiar to all working in Southeast Asian historical disciplines, and for good reason. To acknowledge his 50+ years of unmatched contribution to the study of Mainland Southeast Asian pre- and protohistory, a symposium has been organised in the French Alps 21st-26th June
Prof. Higham’s invaluable regional syntheses (1989, 1996, 2002 & 2014) were based heavily on his predominantly northeast Thai dataset. To these critical data can now be added the results of increasing fieldwork and laboratory study from across the region, to be discussed and integrated under the broad themes of ‘Environment & Landscape’, ‘Life & Industry’ and ‘Health & Death‘. Whether you were one of Prof. Higham’s many students at the University of Otago, a collaborator, or inspired or influenced in your own research, please do join us at the French National Centre for Scientific Research’s fully residential Centre Paul Langevin in Aussois, Haute Savoie. Paper/poster titles are due 31st December 2019 and registration will open 1st January 2020. Registration is €140, including champagne reception (the real stuff) and gala dinner, rising to €150 from 1st May 2020.
