via Khmer Times, 27 December 2019: Reusing ancient ponds in the current dry spell.
The Apsara Authority will deepen eight ancient ponds, which have dried up, and fill them with water for use during a current dry spell in Puok district.
Long Kosal, a spokesman for Apsara Authority, yesterday said that the local authority in Pouok district’s Daun Keo commune will restore the eight ponds to store water for use by the community.
“The restoration only involves these eight ancient ponds, but the people or local authority can make a request if they want other ponds deepened and filled with water,” he said.
Mr Kosal said that the ancient ponds had been main sources of water for daily use by the community, but recently dried up due to drought.
