via Saigon Giai Phong, 19 July 2020: Vietnam launches a stamp collection celebrating the 13th century Battle of Bach Dang River, in which the Tran Dynasty successfully repelled invading Mongols by sea. Archaeologists have discovered many remnants from the battle, including the wooden stakes embedded in the riverbed used to entrap the invasion fleet.
The People’s Committee of the northern coastal province of Quang Ninh in conjunction with the Ministry of Information and Communications held a ceremony on July 18 to debut a special stamp collection on the Bach Dang victory (1288).
The stamp collection spotlights the historical battle by the Tran dynasty against the Yuan – Mong army from China in 1288.
