via Focus Taiwan, 24 January 2021: A new museum opens in Taiwan’s Hualien county, featuring jade and prehistoric artefacts.
A county-level archaeological museum opened in eastern Taiwan’s Hualien on Sunday, featuring jade artefacts and remnants of prehistoric cultures dating back 3,500 years.
The museum, a renovated three-story traditional market in Shoufeng Township, has some jade pieces that are particularly valuable, as they were produced during the New Stone Age around 2,000-4,000 years ago, according to local archeologists.
These relics are likely part of the merchandise from that period that was traded across Taiwan and even Southeast Asian countries such as Vietnam, Thailand and the Philippines, they said.
