via The Myanmar Times, 30 January 2021: Work by the Myanmar Archaeology Association to list pre-Konbaung period artifacts from Aung Nan in the Magwe region into the local heritage register.
Relevant authorities are trying to preserve and emphasise the importance of cultural artifacts in Aung Nan village, Yesagyo township of Magwe Region, by including them on the regional-level ancient cultural heritage list.
The Myanmar Archeology Association (MAA) is currently compiling data, recording the ancient cultural heritage and measuring the damage on these artifacts, said U Thura Aung, secretary of the association.
“A draft report on the archaeological findings on Aung Nan’s history and artifacts will be issued within two to three months. There are hundreds of stupas in Aung Nan so we will prioritise placing them on the regional-level ancient cultural heritage list first,” he said.
