via Myanmar Times, 09 February 2021: After a lengthy closure, and pleading from the tourism industry, Bagan and Shwedagon reopens to visitors.
Both the Shwedagon and Bagan pagodas have reopened their doors in line with current COVID-19 rules and regulations.
The renowned Shwedagon Pagoda welcomed monks and nuns on February 8, said the pagoda’s board of trustees
“The pagoda reopened today. The monks recited paritta and pahtan to ward off harm. The monks will recite pahtan for the next five days,” said a monk.
