via Khmer Times, 13 May 2021: Apsara archaeologists discover an 80 m-long drainage system in Angkor Thom.
Archaeologists of the Apsara Authority have found an ancient underground drainage system, stretching about 80 metres, which is believed to have released water from Angkor Thom to outside the temple complex in Siem Reap province.
The ancient drainage system was found during the implementation of a project to improve the walkway, gardens and drainage system in Angkor Thom.
The ancient system is parallel to the path situated between the basement of the Elephant Terrace and the east gate of Angkor Thom, according to Apsara Authority.
