via Khmer Times, 07 December 2021: The archaeology of a more recent period at Angkor Wat.
Researchers have excavated an archeological site inside the Angkor Wat temple complex and found pottery which they believed were urns used for containing human ashes.
Im Sokrithy, Director of the Department of Preservation of Temples in Angkor Park and Preventive Archaeology, said his team had begun excavating the site after finding pieces of pottery that had a different shape than those previously found.
“We intended to organise and rearrange stones in the area, but we moved to that place and found fragments of pottery, pots and pans,” he said yesterday.
