via Khmer Times, 15 December 2021: The APSARA Authority celebrates the 29th anniversary of the inscription of Angkor as a Unesco World Heritage Site.
For 29 years, Apsara Authority has been doing conservation and restoration work at the Angkor Archaeological Park, ever since it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List on December 14, 1992.
Long Kosal, Apsara Authority spokesman, told Khmer Times yesterday that there were many achievements in the last 29 years but the main thing is ensuring the stability and sustainability of the Angkor Wat temple.
He said that the largest risks to the temple were the discharge of weapons during a long period of war and the abandonment of Angkor for centuries when there was no proper maintenance.
