via Khmer Times, 05 September 2022: The silver statue is repatriated from Thailand.
Carried in a procession from Thailand, a silver Buddha, a century old, was returned to Cambodia and placed in a pagoda in Kampong Chhnang.
The ceremony was held yesterday, in Wat Chanbach Chotnaram, also known as Wat Ta Sot, near Wat Kraing Leav, in Rolea Bier District, Kampong Chhnang.
According to an official, the statue, made from silver, at the end of the reign of King Norodom which makes the statue 100 to 130 years old. The statue was originally placed in Prasat Bakong district, Siem Reap, but was stolen from Siem Reap and transported to Thailand.
