via Khmer Times, 13 December 2022: Comments made during the Indian Vice President’s visit to Cambodia.
Given the historic political, social, cultural, business and trade relations, India has reiterated its commitment to continue to assist the Cambodian government in preserving its heritage by helping in the repair and upkeep of ancient temples, particularly the world-famous Angkor Wat temple complex.
“The Angkor Wat temple complex in Cambodia is being restored because our civilisation is not limited to India but is spread across countries,” said India’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on Sunday.
“I had gone with the Vice President (Jagdeep Dhankhar) to see the biggest temple in the world – the Angkor Wat temple complex. We are restoring and renovating the temples in Angkor Wat,” he said. He had accompanied Dhankhar during the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit and the 17th East Asia Summit in Cambodia in November.
