via Khmer Times, 27 June 2023: Professors and students from the University of Hawaii, along with other international universities, collaborated with the Apsara Authority in Cambodia to conduct an archaeological excavation at Koh Keo Chulamoni Pagoda in Siem Reap, focusing on studying the pagoda’s structure and the social and economic activities of ancient life, contributing to the study of post-Angkorian Khmer history.
Around 37 professors and students from the UH, with students from the Royal University of Fine Arts of Cambodia (RUFA) and the Universities of Fine Arts in the US, the Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand, in collaboration with ANA, participated in an archaeological excavation at Koh Keo Chulamoni Pagoda in Siem Reap City, Siem Reap province.
Im Sokrithy, Archaeologist and Head of Research and Training Department of ANA, welcomed and facilitated the work of the professors and students participating in this joint research.
“This is a great opportunity to show the relation of science, education and training of human resources in the field of archaeology, which ANA has collaborated with the UH as part of a project to study post-Angkorian Khmer history,” Sokrity said.
