via Antara, 03 July 2023: I don’t know if this 20 million visitor target to Borobudur is for the next 18 months (which is insane), or for a longer term (which is also still insane).
Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno urged Agustin Peranginangin, the newly appointed President Director of Borobudur Executive Authority Agency (BPOB), to strive to draw 20 million foreign tourists to visit Borobudur Temple.
The minister noted that the temple has vast tourism potential that can be further developed. In order to achieve the target, the ministry has prepared several business approaches.
“We are ready to take approaches other than business as usual. Our target is to attract 20 million foreign tourists to visit Borobudur Temple by promoting the spiritual-based tourism concept,” Minister Uno stated after inaugurating several officials in Jakarta on Monday.
