via Cambodianess, 14 July 2023: The increasing number of vehicles in the Angkor Archaeological Park has led to a rise in air pollution, which authorities are monitoring closely due to potential long-term effects on the temples and natural landscape, with efforts being made to mitigate the issue through measures such as installing atmospheric measuring devices, diverting traffic, increasing green cover, and re-establishing the ancient irrigation system.
Air pollution in the Angkor Archaeological Park has been increasing due to the growing number of vehicles in the area.
Although still at a level far from alarming, authorities are taking this into consideration as it might affect the longevity of the temples and other ruins as well as the natural landscape around them.
With close cooperation of international institutions, Yith Chandarath, deputy director of APSARA, says the authority has installed atmospheric measuring devices in front of Angkor Wat temple and the result has shown an increase in pollution.
