Archaeologist Phin Vicheasachara said that the restoration work was aimed at strengthening the stairs due to the sandstone condition of the stairs at the Eastern Entrance of Angkor Wat. Some are about to fall, and the team will prepare to push the stones back to their original position to strengthen the pillars to be strong again.
Ms. Vicheasachara added that age and nature are the factors, which caused the foundation structure to deteriorate.
The working team study the layout of the entrance structure and registers numbers as well as finds the missing stones, and assembles the stones to know the stones come from what part of the structure.
