via Khmer Times, 12 September 2023: The APSARA National Authority’s restoration team is diligently working on the Prohm Kel Temple, situated northwest of Angkor Wat, to strengthen its structure and address severe damage, including fallen stones and a partially collapsed central tower. The restoration, which began in August 2023, involves excavating and studying the temple’s internal structure, numbering and repositioning stones, and reinforcing the foundation to preserve this ancient marvel.
Mao Sokny, head of the Prohm Kel Temple restoration site and architect of the Department of Conservation of Monuments and Preventive Archeology, said the Prohm Kel Temple was severely damaged, some stones fell, and half part of the central tower collapsed.
To restore the temple’s structure after inspecting the damaged condition, experts are currently working to repair the Prohm Kel Temple starting from the end of August 2023, he pointed out.
