via Khmer Times, 13 September 2023: Road construction in Kampong Chhnang province was halted to protect the structural integrity of Thnam Bdey, a pre-Angkorian temple.
Sok Thuok, director of Culture and Fine Arts department of Kampong Chhnang province, said that it was decided to permanently cease road construction near an ancient temple, known as “Thnam Bdey” in Kampong Leng district.
The road construction was to improve and widen the road to facilitate better traffic flow. After the department inspected the temple on Monday, it was decided the road construction had to stop due to detrimental impact on the temple, he added.
According to provincial department of Culture and Fine Arts, Thnam Bdey was built on a hill in Kampong Leng district, Kampong Chhnang province.
