via Antara, 18 September 2023: The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in Indonesia has proposed designating the National Museum as a “national vital object” to ensure its maximum protection, particularly in the wake of a recent fire incident.
Speaking at “The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno” online discussion on Monday, Niscahya affirmed that after the fire at the National Museum of Indonesia on Saturday (September 16, 2023) night, her ministry has taken several steps.
One has been coordinating with the Directorate General of Cultural Affairs at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology to ensure security for assets at the museum and to support the police in carrying out an investigation into the incident.
The ministry has committed to maintaining the continuity of tourism in the country through a number of tourism and creative economy events that are environmentally and socially responsible.
In addition, ensuring that the preservation of tourist areas is continued has also been deemed important.
