via various sources, 22 September 2023: Cambodia’s Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts is seeking UNESCO listings for the traditional Khmer Krama scarf and the Tuol Sleng Prison, following the successful inclusion of Koh Ker temple, to preserve and promote the nation’s cultural heritage.
Currently, the ministry is preparing documents to request the inclusion of the krama in UNESCO roster of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and for the inclusion of Tuol Sleng Prison in the UNESCO World Memory List, he said.
He said the proposal to include Tuol Sleng on the World Memory List is to remind future generations to avoid such tragedies.
He added that after a series of successes, the ministry will ensure that current proposals submitted to UNESCO bear fruit for Cambodians and the nation’s cultural heritage.
