via Sentinel Assam, 10 October 2023: A UNESCO inspection was recently conducted at Charaideo Maidam, an Ahom-era site in Assam, India, for its potential recognition as a World Heritage Site. The expert mentioned is actually an archaeologist from Singapore.
UNESCO International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) expert Lim Chen Sian, who arrived in Charaideo on October 7, conducted a detailed inspection for the third consecutive day for the recognition of the Ahom-era Maidams at Charaideo as a UNESCO World Heritage Site on Monday.
The UNESCO expert Sian, who arrived in Charaideo, along with a team of officials from the Government of India and the Department of Archaeology, Government of Assam, visited the heritage site along the outskirts of Charaideo Maidam on Monday.
