via Khmer Times, 08 November 2023: The remains of a circular earthwork comprising a wall and a moat has been discovered in Kampong Cham province, dating to approximately 1500-2000 BCE.
Chanthuon visited the area on Friday after he received information about the site from former archaeology students who first examined it in May.
He said that this new example of an irrigation system shows the remnants of a well-maintained circular wall that stands between one to one and a half metres high. The wall is surrounded by a moat. The whole structure has an overall diameter of about 250 to 300 metres.
He said that he needs more time to study the site in detail, but this irrigation system is similar to one found at Prek Chhlong river and another at Memot district.
