via Khmer Times, 24 November 2023: The Department of Cultural Development of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts is hosting a photo exhibition titled “Looking back over the past 3 decades Angkor” at the Khmer Kite Museum in Phnom Penh, from December 1-15. This exhibition, marking the 31st anniversary of Angkor Wat’s inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List, will feature 62 photographs by renowned Japanese photographers, including Baku Saito. Saito’s extensive photographic collection showcases the intricate art and architecture of Angkor Wat, previously displayed at the UN headquarters in New York and recognized as a valuable resource for research.
This was the first time that the department has organised an exhibition like this, which will display 62 photographs taken by famous Japanese photographers for the benefit of both national and international visitors, he added.
The main purpose of the exhibition is to celebrate the 31st anniversary of the inclusion of Angkor Wat on the UNESCO World Heritage List, Sareth said.
This exhibition will show the works of many famous Japanese photographers who took shots of Angkor Wat many years ago. Also, this provides an opportunity for young people and students who love the art of photography to discover these photographers, he said.
