via Khmer Times, 12 December 2023: The ‘Tep Apsara Khmer Heritage’ exhibition at the National Museum of Cambodia, running from December 9, 2023, to January 30, 2024, showcases paintings by 14 local and international artists reflecting the Apsara dance. Organized by the Cambodian artists’ community and the Museum Department of the General Department of Heritage, the exhibition aims to promote Khmer and foreign contemporary artists and highlight the cultural significance of the Apsara dance. Visitors can explore the elaborate forms and movements of the dance through these contemporary artworks, enhancing appreciation of Cambodian heritage.
The public will understand the elaborate forms of Apsara dance and the lively movement of the dance through the paintings of these artists.
Chap Sopheara, Deputy Director of the Department of Museums, congratulated all the participants who organised the exhibition at the National Museum of Cambodia.
The non-permanent exhibition of the Cambodian artists’ community will introduce visitors to their talents, creativity, aesthetics and excellence of their work, as well as understanding the artist’s mindset through meticulous contemporary artworks based on the mythological story of Tep Apsor, she said.
