via Khmer Times, 14 December 2023: The Angkor Remembrance Event, a unique annual celebration, marked its latest edition with special theatrical and performing arts events, commemorating the 31st anniversary of Angkor’s inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Hosted by Cambodia’s Apsara Authority, the event featured a mix of performances, including Yike Mahacho and Sbek Thom shadow puppet theatre, and a student-led march, attracting both domestic and international tourists, celebrating Cambodia’s rich historical legacy.
The Angkor Remembrance Event officially opened last Thursday. First Lady of Cambodia Pech Chanmony presided over the event in the presence of Men Sam An, member of the Supreme Privy Council to the King, and Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts.
The Angkor Remembrance Event is organised to commemorate the Cambodian kings and all the ancestors who helped to build the temples and the city of Angkor.
The event is celebrating the 31st anniversary since the Angkor site was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
