via Khmer Times, 10 January 2024: The Apsara National Authority has successfully completed the six-month restoration of the 24-meter-long Naga balustrade at Banteay Samre Temple in Siem Reap province, Cambodia. The Stone Conservation Unit undertook this meticulous project to restore and reinforce the damaged structure, using new stones where necessary. This restoration not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of this historic site but also ensures the safety of tourists.
The restoration project of the 24-metre-long Naga balustrade at the northeast corner of the first gallery of the Banteay Samre Temple has been completed.
The Stone Conservation Unit (SCU) of the Apsara National Authority (ANA) confirmed yesterday that it has successfully concluded the restoration project for the Naga balustrade of the first gallery of Banteay Samre Temple.
The six-month-long project commenced in mid-June of last year.
Long Nary, the Head of the SCU in the Department of Conservation of Monuments and Preventive Archaeology, highlighted the significant damage to the Naga balustrade at Banteay Samre Temple.
