In contrast, the Apsara National Authority insists that they only require residents to seek approval before building or renovating, amidst protests from locals over these restrictions. The conflict highlights the challenges in balancing heritage conservation with community needs in the Angkor Archaeological Park.
Siem Reap Governor instructs local authorities to participate in preventing new construction in the Angkor Resort area
Prak Sophoan, Governor of Siem Reap Province has instructed the local authorities at all levels to cooperate well to prevent the construction of new buildings in the Angkor resort area during this orientation campaign.
At the same time, he called on local authorities to report on local progress and local challenges during the government-oriented campaign.
