via Pattaya Mail, 28 January 2024: The Fine Arts Department has relaunched the “Ayutthaya Sundown 2024” night tour program, extending visiting hours until 9 pm on weekends at key historical sites in Ayutthaya, such as Wat Chaiwatthanaram and Wat Ratchaburana. This initiative, part of the government’s soft power promotion, aims to enrich the visitor experience in the UNESCO-listed ancient city and has previously contributed to a significant increase in tourism, with the rental of traditional Thai costumes and entrance fees generating substantial revenue.
The Fine Arts Department has announced the return of the popular night tour program of ancient temples in Ayutthaya province, now officially named “Ayutthaya Sundown 2024.” The program, initially launched last year as part of the government’s soft power promotion policy, will run from February 2 to April 30.
The night tours, which contributed to a 40% increase in visitors to Ayutthaya and boosted local tourism revenue, will include extended visiting hours until 9 pm at key historical sites like Wat Chaiwatthanaram, Wat Ratchaburana, and Chantharakasem Palace. The tours will be available on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
