via Khmer Times, 06 February 2024: The Apsara National Authority traces 400 stones that once formed part of the Bayon temple. This is part of an effort for the temple’s eventual restoration.
The source and location of four hundred stones that were once part of the ancient temple of Bayon have been identified by the Apsara National Authority (ANA), an important milestone in the restoration of the iconic temple.
As per the restoration team working on the Bayon Temple, approximately 2,000 stones in the southwest section have been examined by the archaeologists.
Of these, over 400 stones have been identified as originating from the second gallery and the summit of the four-faced Brahma in the southwest corner. However, the origins of numerous other stones remain unknown.
