via Khmer Times, 17 February 2024: The APSARA National Authority is installing two additional wooden handrails on the southern and northern staircases leading to Angkor Wat’s Bakan Tower, enhancing safety for tourists. This initiative aims to prevent accidents such as slipping during the rainy season and ensure a safer climb for visitors, addressing the stairways’ steepness and height.
The working team of Tourism Services Control of the Department of Tourism Development and Culture of the APSARA National Authority has continued its work to install another two wooden handrails at the southern and northern staircases going up to Bakan Tower of Angkor Wat.
The head of the working team, Bou Phaneth, said that the wooden handrails installation work is done to facilitate tourists going to Bakan Tower. In particular, it prevents slipping in the rainy season, provides safety for all tourists, and prevents other dangers such as dizziness, heart palpitations, and so on because this location is steep and has a height of more than ten meters.
