via Khmer Times, 20 February 2024: The National Authority for Preah Vihear and the Institute of Technology of Cambodia have initiated a geological study at the Prasat Chen within the Koh Ker complex to assess the impact of landslides on its stability. This critical research aims to understand the soil composition and topography beneath the temple to devise conservation strategies.
The National Authority for Preah Vihear in collaboration with the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC), on Sunday conducted a field visit and collected geological data to study the topsoil and soil compaction in the Chen Temple complex.
The sample was taken to conclude the risk assessment of the temple structure.
Kong Puthika, Chief of the National Authority for Preah Vihear, said, “This data collection is part of the conservation of the Chen temple located in the Koh Ker complex. We observed that one part of the basic structure of the Chen temple seems to have affected by a landslide, which will destabilise the temple.”
