via Khmer Times, 29 February 2024: The Apsara National Authority, in partnership with Germany’s GACP, hosted a workshop featuring insights into the history, management, and tourism aspects of Cologne Cathedral and Freiburg Minster, highlighting conservation practices and the significant visitor engagement at these iconic sites.
The Apsara National Authority, in collaboration with the GACP of Germany, organized a workshop on the history, management, and tourism of Cologne Cathedral and Freiburg Minster in Germany. This is presented by the directors of the two ancient churches above.
Speaker Dr. Peter Fussenich gave a brief history of the Cologne Cathedral, the art of construction, architecture, and glass painting. The focus is on church work, with multidisciplinary professionals working on conservation, and prevention measures, sharing work experience at Cologne Cathedral.
Workshop work today has become a tourist destination, with 6,500,000 visitors a year. Cologne Cathedral was built in 1248 and is 157 meters high. The building was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1996.
