via Khmer Times, 29 February 2024: The Apsara National Authority is spearheading efforts to clean, register, and reassemble the stones of the almost destroyed Neak Tavaing Temple in Siem Reap, aiming to preserve the ancient structure amidst threats from nature, aging, and encroaching urbanization.
Neak Tavaing Temple or the locals called Prasat Kork Tavaing is a small temple located in Thmey Village, Sangkat Svay Dangkum, Siem Reap City. The temple is almost destroyed due to many factors such as nature, age, and human factors.
For the preservation of ancient structures, the Apsara National Authority collects stones that fall around to find the stones and then clean and reassemble the temple.
Ros Visoth, Conservation Officer of the Department of Conservation of Monuments and Preventive Archaeology of Apsara National Authority, said that with the permission of the head of Apsara National Authority, his working team visited the site of Neak Tavaing Temple, checked some work to preserve the damaged temple.
