via Antara, 08 May 2024: UNESCO has included three Indonesian archives in its Memory of the World for Asia and the Pacific list: the Tambo Tuanku Imam Bonjol manuscript, Indarung Semen Padang archives, and the Indonesian Sugar Research Institute archives. These archives, recognized for their national and global significance, highlight Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage and historical documentation.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has added three Indonesian archives to its Memory of the World for Asia and the Pacific list.
“The three archives are the Tambo Tuanku Imam Bonjol manuscript, Indarung Semen Padang archives, and 1887–-1986 Indonesian Sugar Research Institute archives,” national manuscript management task force head at the National Library of Indonesia, Aditia Gunawan, said here on Wednesday.
He informed that the inclusion of the Tambo Tuanku Imam Bonjol manuscript was proposed jointly by the National Library and the West Sumatra provincial authority, while the Indarung Semen Padang archives were proposed by cement company PT Semen Padang.
