via Bernama, 05 July 2024: Malaysia and the Netherlands conducted a joint diving expedition from June 17-30, exploring the WWII shipwrecks of the Royal Netherlands Navy submarines K-XVI and O-20 in Malaysian waters. Initial findings suggest the K-XVI has been salvaged, while the O-20 was located at its recorded site. The expedition aimed to enhance bilateral relations and advance maritime archaeology and underwater cultural heritage management between the two nations.
Malaysia and the Netherlands conducted joint diving expedition to the sites of two Royal Netherlands Navy World War II shipwrecks in Malaysian waters. According to a joint statement, a team of underwater survey experts and researchers from the Netherlands and Malaysia conducted the joint expedition from June 17 to June 30. “The research team searched the wreck sites of K-XVI and O-20, two Royal Netherlands Navy submarines that sank in Malaysian waters during World War II.
