This marks a significant achievement in Cambodia’s restitution campaign, with hopes for more returns in the future. The artefacts, including a rare bronze statue, highlight the importance of academic involvement in cultural heritage preservation.
A research project on repatriation led by SOAS University of London Professor Ashley Thompson, an expert in Khmer antiquities, has supported the successful return of 14 treasured artefacts to Cambodia from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
