Located at the peak of Hai Van Pass in central Vietnam, Hai Van Gate serves as the administrative boundary between Da Nang City and Thua Thien Hue Province, marking a natural division in climate and culture between the two regions. In 2017, it was recognized as a national relic by Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
Hai Van Gate is nearly 200 years old, and once damaged. Now it has been transformed through a renovation costing over VND42 billion (around $1.6 million), funded by Da Nang and Thua Thien Hue.
Thua Thien Hue, with its expertise in heritage restoration, led the project. The project completed the main components in early 2024.
