via Khmer Times, 29 July 2024: The restoration of Banteay Kdei Temple’s western gate, completed in 2023 using the Anastylosis Technique, has revitalized the historic structure. Managed by the APSARA National Authority, the project stabilized the foundation and reassembled stone structures, ensuring both authenticity and visitor safety.
Once in a state of disrepair, the gate has been meticulously reinforced, with its foundation stabilized and collapsed stone structures reassembled in their original positions. Where necessary, new sandstone blocks were incorporated to ensure the integrity and authenticity of the restoration.
The result is a stunningly revitalized western gate that stands strong and beautiful, showcasing the craftsmanship of a new generation of Khmer restorers. Under the management of the APSARA National Authority, this project not only preserves the architectural heritage of the temple but also enhances safety for visitors exploring this ancient site.
