An archaeological excavation in Punden Gadung Melati, East Java, has been cut short by the authorities, although no reason was given. The excavation has uncovered bricks and ceramics and large ceramic pieces, although I’m a bit doubtful about the mention of earthenware 10 by 10m in size.

The excavation at Punden Gadung Melati site in Punten village, Batu, has been cut short by the
East Java Antiquities and Relics Conservation Agency
(BP3) team, beginning since Saturday last week.
According to Widya Heri Setiawati, an archaeologist from Batu Tourism and Culture Office, the Trowulan BP3 team had found ancient relics in the form of bricks, ceramics, and earthenware pieces of 10 x 10 meter in size. “These objects are being studied at the BP3 laboratory. The examination normally takes a week,†Widya said yesterday.
