via Bernama, 16 Nov 2019: The Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia urged the state and federal governments to develop the Perak Man and Lenggong Valley as tourism attractions. The Lenggong Valley is a Unesco World Heritage Site.
The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) and the state government of Perak have been advised to give focus on ‘Perak Man’ and the development of Lenggong Valley in Hilir Perak as tourist attractions.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, when giving the advice, said it was important as the declaration of Lenggong Valley as a UNESCO World Heritage Site did not come easy.
“It is not easy for a site to be declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so it is only right for such recognition to be used as an opportunity to introduce a different side of Malaysia to the world,” she said in her speech when opening the Malaysia Deepavali Open House 2019 at Ipoh City Council Square here tonight.
‘Perak Man’ is the name given to the most complete skeletal remains of a man from the Palaeolithic period discovered in a cave called Gua Runtuh in Lenggong in 1990.
