via Myanmar Times, 31 December 2019: The ‘bronze’ and ‘iron’ ages are loaded and problematic terms in Southeast Asia, but the time frame of the late Neolithic up to the emergence of large-scale settlements is generally not very well researched in Myanmar.
Human skeletons believed to be from the Iron and Bronze ages have been found at an archaeological excavation site in Mandalay Region, an official of the Department of Archaeology and National Museum said.
The remains were discovered at the site in Kyi Kyi village in Nwartogyi township in central Mandalay.
U Kyaw Oo Lwin, director general of the department, said also recovered were pots, animal bones, bone beads, stone beads, a mussel and two bronze arrowheads.
He said the discoveries, which were made on Friday, included seven human skeletons buried according to the traditions of the Iron and Bronze ages.
