via Khmer Times, 26 June 2020: A 200-year-old, 100-pillar house was saved from demolishment when the Ministry of Fine Arts and Culture were able to raise enough donations to purchase the building from the landowners for relocation elsewhere.
The Kratie provincial culture and fine arts department has said that the reconstruction of the “100-pillar” ancient house in Chhlong district, which has been relocated to another area, will be done according to the original design.
The department’s statement was made following posts on social and some online media in the recent days about the relocation of the 100-pillar house.
The posts criticised the provincial department of culture and the authorities for not ensuring the conservation of the ancient structure.
