via EFEO, 11 March 2021: Sovannara Mey and Christophe Pottier present the collection of the Angkor Conservation Archives, an establishment created by the EFEO in 1908. This video is part of the series celebrating the EFEO’s 120th anniversary.

La troisième vidéo est intitulée “Les archives de la Conservation d’Angkor. Dans les pas des archéologues”. Sovannara Mey et Christophe Pottier y présentent le fonds des archives de la Conservation d’Angkor, un établissement créé par l’EFEO en 1908. Jusqu’en 1973, c’est la Conservation d’Angkor qui fut chargée des dégagements, de l’étude, de la conservation et de la restauration des temples et du parc archéologique d’Angkor au Cambodge. Au fil des pages de leurs journaux de fouilles quotidiens ou de leurs rapports réguliers, les architectes et archéologues de l’EFEO qui se sont succédés à la tête de la Conservation ont produit une documentation détaillée de l’ensemble des opérations réalisées durant toute cette période. Au-delà de ce trésor d’informations largement inédites, ces archives relatent au jour le jour nombre de découvertes scientifiques et documentent la formation et le développement de la recherche sur un des plus grands sites archéologiques en Asie du Sud-Est. Toujours d’actualité, ce fonds constitue désormais une base indispensable pour les travaux actuellement menés a Angkor.
