This site is maintained in a personal capacity with my own financial resources. The costs of running the site is offset in part by advertising and affiliate links (see my disclosures here), and through my annual crowdfunding appeal. If you wish to support this site directly, please consider Buying Me a Coffee.

Southeast Asian Archaeology (SEAArch) started out as a personal project in 2006 as an online news archive about the archaeology of Southeast Asia at a time of my life when I decided I was going to pursue archaeology as a career. It has followed me as I obtained my advanced degees and throughout the course of my career as an archaeologist working in Southeast Asia.

Over the years it has grown into a repository of information for scholars, researchers and enthusiasts worldwide. As of November 2022, I have indexed over 9,000 news stories; the website reaches over 80,000 users every year, 7,600 followers on Instagram, 3,200 followers on Twitter and 9,100 followers on Facebook, and 1,800 subscribers on the weekly newsletter.

Besides maintaining an archive of news stories, my goal is to make the website a useful resource of information about the archaeology of Southeast Asia. I post updates on job listingsnewly-published papers, and create detailed resource pages. I continue to work on this website in my personal capacity.

The website has expanded over the years, and so has the upkeep – currently, it costs a little over US$1,000 a year to pay for web hosting, web security and related optimisations to keep everything running smoothly. These are paid out of my own pocket, and are offset by some advertising, affiliate links, and through Buy Me a Coffee and Substack.

If you find the SEAArch website useful (and if you are in a financial position to do so) consider buying me a virtual coffee to help keep this site going – it is the best and most direct way of supporting the site. You can make a one-time contribution, or be a member and support this site monthly for the price of a cup of coffee. Another way is through a paid membership on the Southeast Asian Archaeology Newsletter. Every supporter is acknowledged on this page – unless you choose to make your name anonymous.

I am always very grateful for the support from the readers of the site – many of you are professional acquaintances or have also become friends. I hope to continue this site as a useful resource for both archaeologists and the curious alike.
