via Bangkok Post, 23 February 2022: News piece on the upcoming IPPA in Chiang Mai, focusing on Silpakorn University’s central role.
The Indo-Pacific Prehistory Association (IPPA) is another key organisation helping to propel archaeological research in Thailand and other regions forward. IPPA is responsible for promoting cooperation in the study of the prehistory and related subjects in the Indo-Pacific region by building networks among archaeological scholars around the world.
The Congress held by IPPA every four years offers opportunities for archaeologists to contribute their findings to more than 40 discussion panels. Thailand is honoured to host the conference for the second time this year in Chiang Mai during the Yi Peng Festival in November. The 22nd IPPA Congress will be hosted in collaboration with six partners, including the Fine Arts Department, Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Anthropology Centre, SEAMEO SPAFA, GISTDA, Social Research Institute, Chiang Mai University and the Faculty of Archaeology Alumni Association.
As the prime host of the 2022 IPPA event, the Faculty of Archaeology, Silpakorn University, helps organise networks of more than 800 delegates from more than 40 countries to join the event and open their own discussion panels to promote interest in archaeology to like-minded cultural enthusiasts.
