via Bangkok Post, 28 February 2022: The Social Research Institute of Chiang Mai University is one of the partners organising this year’s IPPA Congress.
Half a century having passed since its establishment the Social Research Institute (SRI) of Chiang Mai University, under the direction of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Woralun Boonyasurat, is preparing to join the 22nd Indo-Pacific Archaeology Association (IPPA 2022) Convention at which, among other things, it will present its research and findings on the topic of archaeology-related astronomy.
“Chiang Mai is among the top Thai provinces graced with a rich cultural heritage,” comments the SRI Director. “Our continuous efforts inspired by this fact now puts us in pole position to contribute to the most anticipated archaeology conference in Southeast Asia which is coming up in February.”
“At SRI, we honour the philosophy of studying the past to understand the present, and studying the present to plan the future. This truly complements IPPA’s educational ambition to share knowledge of prehistory and make the roots of mankind better known so as to enable us to better ground our present.”
