Ministry of Culture ‘regrets’ the demolition of three ancient structures at Wat Ounalom

via Khmer Times, 12 December 2022: The temple was established in the 15th century, but the demolished structures were built in the 1930s.

The Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts has expressed regret over the demolition of three ancient structures in the grounds of Phnom Penh’s Wat Ounalom, after widespread condemnation on social media

The Ministry stated that the destruction is contrary to the Royal Government’s directive on preventing the demolition and destruction of heritage buildings.
