via Mothership, 06 March 2023: The National Museum of Singapore and other national monuments will undergo restoration works starting from late 2023 to preserve their heritage value. The museum’s restoration is expected to be completed in 2025.
A number of national monuments in Singapore will be undergoing restoration and upgrading works starting this year, the Ministry of Culture, Community & Youth (MCCY) announced during its Committee of Supply debate on Monday (Mar. 6).
These national monuments are:
- National Museum of Singapore
- The former Istana Kampong Gelam, which currently houses the Malay Heritage Centre, and
- Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall
