via Daily Tribune, 24 April 2023: The city of Vigan, in coordination with the NCCA, will begin to repair the structures damaged by the earthquake last year with a P6 million allocation, but the stories below suggest that the two parties are not yet quite on the same page.
According to Ivan Anthony Henares, NCCA commissioner and program director of UNESCO in the Philippines, “For the NCCA, NCCA is now the regulatory agency for all the structures. If there is any work to be done in the structures, these are usually coordinated now with the NCCA”.
A P6-million fund has been allocated by the NCCA for rehabilitating the damaged structures.
On the six-month moratorium of the NCCA to Vigan City not to touch or repair the damaged structures, “Good enough we were able to reconnect with the national agencies on cultural assets and treasures, so now more or less we see the light at the end of the tunnel.” Singson said.
